Collaborative project on gender transformative approaches to improve sexual, reproductive and maternal health in Africa launched

The School of Public Health recently began work on two exciting aspects of a global research project focusing on gender transformative approaches to improve sexual, reproductive and maternal health in Africa.

Over the next three years, the School will be leading two of the seven implementation research projects in the cohort, namely:

• A local learning partnerships to support gender-transformative innovations in adolescent and young people’s sexual and reproductive health in South Africa.  The partnership will be initiated and piloted in the Klipfontein Sub-district, Cape Town in close collaboration with NACOSA and the Provincial Department of Health and Wellness, Western Cape, with lessons being shared with key stakeholders around the country.
• A regional initiative which draws together the gender-transformative research conducted across the seven Africa countries in a process of collective learning and synthesis to improve sexual, reproductive and maternal health rights and services in Sub-Saharan Africa.
