Hands-On Capacity Building to Empower a New Generation of Pharmacovigilance Experts

At the 5th Annual Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology in Africa, held in Accra, Ghana, from 20 – 22 April 2026, Dr Nicolas Praet delivered a podium presentation on the capacity-building activities of CEPSA.

Dr Nicolas Praet delivered an oral presentation highlighting CEPSA’s key achievements and future activities, including its annual PV training workshop, mentorship, mobility, research and policy-support programmes, as well as its Community of Practice. The presentation generated significant interest in CEPSA’s work, enhancing the Centre’s visibility and facilitating new connections both within and beyond Southern Africa.

The conference also provided valuable opportunities to engage with international experts in pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology, including members of CEPSA’s Scientific Board (Prof Hannelie Meyer (SMU), Prof Ushma Mehta (UCT), and Dr Alemayehu Duga (Africa CDC)).
