Academic and Tutorial coordinator, Community Health Sciences Faculty, University of the Western Cape
I am originally from Cape Town and still reside here. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BPsych). After completion I worked in substance abuse, specifically with adolescents. Thereafter I focused on research around adolescents relating to abuse and neglect. I then joined UWC as a fieldwork coordinator in the Interprofessional Education Unit in 2016. My primary role was community engagement and facilitating interprofessional groups consisting of health science students. Their projects were primarily in the community of Mitchells Plain. I also coordinated the clinical aspect of the interprofessional groups at state hospitals. After which I published two articles in that field. During my time in that role, I started my MPH in 2017 and completed it in 2019. The focus of my thesis was adolescent contraceptive health. After 5 years I started my new role within the Faculty of Education as their Academic and Tutorial coordinator. My primary roles include coordinating the tutorial programme as well as the faculty seminar programme and other academic discussions.
