My name is Eustarckio Kazonga. I graduated from the University of the Western Cape (UWC-SOPH) with a Master’s degree in Public Health in 2014. I work, on part-time basis, at: (i) the University of Lusaka (UNILUS) School of Medicine and Health Sciences; and the School of Postgraduate Studies in Lusaka, Zambia as a lecturer in Biostatistics and Health Systems Research; and (ii) the Copperbelt University (CBU) School of Postgraduate Studies also as a lecturer in Quantitative Methods. I have been involved in teaching and lecturing for over 41 years now. I am also a consultant in grant proposal writing, report writing, monitoring and evaluation, research methods, data analysis, statistical software packages such as Stata, SPSS, SAS, R and EpiInfo. I currently live in Lusaka. I was educated at the University of Zambia, Institute of Data Processing and Management (IDPM), United Kingdom, Limburgs University-Belgium, and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa in the fields of Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems Analysis and Design, Biostatistics and Public Health. My research interests are in maternal health; civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS); social determinants of health particularly housing, water supply, sanitation, and food security. Professionally, I am a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) and a Member of the Institute of International Statistical Institute (ISI). I am the Interim Vice President of Statistics Association of Zambia (SAZ). On the political front, I was once a Member of Parliament (MP) [2006-2013] and in turn served in government as Deputy Minister of Local Government and Housing, and Defence. Later I was promoted to Cabinet Minister of Local Government and Housing; and finally Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Zambia during the period 2006 to 2011.
