Global Health Leadership: SOPH Alum Dr Nondumiso Ncube at the World Health Assembly
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most urgent global health threats of our time. It demands bold leadership, collaboration, and expertise across borders.
We are proud to celebrate Dr Nondumiso BQ Ncube, Research Affiliate and Alumnus of the School of Public Health at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), who continues to make impactful contributions to global health.
Dr Ncube, who currently serves as the National Executive Director of the National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS (NERCHA) in Eswatini, recently participated in the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78) in Geneva, Switzerland, under the theme “One World for Health.”
A key highlight of the Assembly was the adoption of the world’s first Pandemic Agreement on 20 May 2025. Dr Ncube also played a critical role in representing Eswatini’s voice on Antimicrobial Resistance, delivering the country’s AMR statement during the Assembly.
In a time when pharmaceutical public health leadership is more vital than ever, it is inspiring to see SOPH alumni like Dr Ncube leading at global platforms.
