New IDRC-GT4Africa Supplement sheds light on what it takes to operationalise gender transformative approaches to improve sexual reproductive and maternal health rights and services in Africa
A new supplement in the African Journal of Reproductive Health showcases what it takes to operationalise gender transformative approaches (GTA) across different African contexts to improve sexual reproductive and maternal health (SRMH) rights and services.
A new supplement in the African Journal of Reproductive Health showcases what it takes to operationalise gender transformative approaches across different African contexts to improve SRMH rights and services.ย The special issue features eight peer-reviewed articles, including six papers broadly focusing on three thematic areas: 1) Experiences of co-design for GTA, 2) Working with community health workers and peer facilitators, and 3) Working with men on maternal health.
The supplement is produced by the Gender Transformation for Africa (GT4Africa), a cohort of IDRC-funded research projects implemented across seven African countries (Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, The Gambia, Burkana Faso, Malawi, South Africa), including School of Public Health-UWC between 2022 and 2025.
The cohort will convene a journal supplement launch webinar on July 31, 2025 (14h00- 16h00 SAST) to share key insights from their work to advance gender equality and health for all in Africa, and specifically.
