Lungiswa Tsolekile is a senior lecturer with a background in nutrition. She teaches monitoring and evaluation of health programmes in the Postgraduate and Master’s Programmes and has served as a postgraduate diploma coordinator since 2023.

Her main research interests are primary prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and obesity in adults and children. She has been involved in interventions and participatory action research exploring the use of community health workers (CHWs) as change agents for the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the promotion of healthy living in resource-limited settings. She has experience working with CHWs, developing training programmes and interventions for managing and controlling NCDs, focusing on nutrition and physical activity. She has amassed considerable experience in community-level interventions to impact NCDs. Her most recent research projects include adapting a Diabetes Prevention Programme for use by CHWs in NCD support groups. Moreover she has been involved in a study that examines the feasibility of delivering an adapted lifestyle intervention in churches in Cape Town.
