Chanelle Mulopo’s training is in public health, health promotion, and psychology. Her research interest focuses on the intersections between the environment, people, and public health. She has explored a broad range of topics including WASH, Climate Change and Health, Planetary Health, and AMR in low- and middle-income settings.
Chanelle Mulopo joined the School of Public Health in 2021. She was involved in co-convening the MPH qualitative research methods module (2022-2024). Currently, she is co-supervising Master’s and PhD students and conducting research on various projects.
Chanelle Mulopo is currently involved in three projects, she is co-leading the project on Knowledge Translation Platforms for bridging public health and health systems research into Universal Health Coverage related policy and practice in South Africa (KTP-UHC) funded by the South African Medical Research Council. She is leading a sub-study on Bridging the Gap in Climate Change and Health Knowledge Translation for Policy and Practice in Low and Middle-Income Countries. Lastly, she is involved in a non-communicable disease policy transfer project in collaboration with the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health.
Chanelle Mulopo serves as an executive member of Women Leaders of Planetary Health South African Hub. Previously she served as the National Secretary for the Water Institute of Southern African-Young Water Professions (WISA-YWP) from 2018 to 2020.
