We, the School of Public Health at the University of the Western Cape, condemn the physical and verbal attacks on our foreign sisters and brothers from Africa in the strongest possible terms. It is unfathomable and deeply distressing that such horrendous violence and language is yet again erupting in a country who’s citizens were welcomed and cared for by many African countries for decades under apartheid.
We express our solidarity with our African colleagues and students, as well as other foreign residents in this country, and we commit to supporting and protecting them to the best of our ability.
