Dr Arthur Heywood delivered a presentation entiteld “The History of HISP – from UWC to the world…”! at SOPH Journal Club on 11 June 2018.

Arthur started the Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) as a project within SOPH programme in 1994. He shared the evolution of HISP as a programme in South Africa and the work it does today across numerous countries. You can find out more about HISP and DHIS 2 here: www.hisp.org

Arthur Heywood’s long term relationship with SOPH dates back to its inception. He was with Prof David Sanders at the start of the SOPH in 1993 and was responsible for teaching and writing many of the school’s original versions of the distance education modules.
