Takunda Satumba’s academic focus is on sexual and reproductive health, with particular interest in the intersection between mental health and sexual and reproductive health. Takunda holds a multidisciplinary background that spans social sciences, including social protection and food security, as well as economics.
Takunda Satumba joined SOPH in April 2024, where he teaches in the MPH program, Health Economic Evaluations. His research centres on sexual and reproductive health, with a particular focus on the intersections of mental health, teenage pregnancy, and HIV. Additionally, Takunda also investigates the health and economic aspects amongst migrants in South Africa.
Takunda’s research centres on the intersection of variables within the sexual and reproductive health domain, with a primary focus on the interplay between mental health, teenage pregnancy, and HIV infection. His work also includes economic and health assessments among migrants in South Africa, as well as investigations into the intersection of social protection and health outcomes at the household level, particularly among youth cohorts.
