Ziyanda Mwanda is an e-Learning specialist. She joined the school in 2012 as research assistant upon completing her undergraduate training in Biotechnology at UWC.
Ziyanda now contributes to the School of Public Health’s coursework programmes by preparing academic multimedia materials, providing e-learning support to both students and teaching staff within the school. Since joining the school, Ziyanda has completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology and Masters in Education (specialising in Educational Technology) at UCT and is currently registered for a PhD in Education (specialising in Educational Technology).
Ziyanda leads the school’s innovation efforts in online learning design and supports lecturers on the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences. She also coordinates the School’s presence on the University Learning Management System (LMS) – iKamva. Her research interests are around the use of social media to support distance and postgraduate students as well as naturing responsive ecosystems of support for distance learners at traditional campus-based universities.
